We work closely with you to gain a deep understanding of you, your background and your desired impact on our world. We advise established and aspiring philanthropists, foundations and corporations; manage innovative, early-stage nonprofits; and share insight and learning with our clients, our community and the sector.
No matter your background, giving vehicle or level of experience, we will design an initiative that is based on your values and that achieves your goals.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?
Here are two examples of CSR initiatives:
- Environmental programs can include reducing pollution, greenhouse emissions, recycling, clean energy and the sustainable use of natural resources.
- Philanthropic responsibility initiatives address community and educational challenges such as building a recreation/wellness center’s, supporting local or community health, housing, education or nutrition cause
Should I spend down or give in perpetuity?
Spending down (limited lifespan giving) is right for you when:
- You feel that your skills, passion, or resources can help solve issues now, shift the conversation on social challenges within your lifetime and you believe future philanthropists will emerge to address future problems.
- You have strong opinions and ideas based on experience and lessons learned.
- It’s possible that there may not be anyone you know interested in carrying the torch or preserve your priorities.
- The concern that endowing your philanthropy in perpetuity would be a burden for your family rather than an opportunity for future generations to make a difference.
Perpetuity or Endowments:
- You believe that the issues you are trying to resolve will be with us forever, and there is a value in creating a constant resource—available in good times and bad.
- Your family is guided by similar values and you believe that philanthropy is an important quality your family shares.
- You trust that your family will honor your intent, share and care for your priorities.
- Leaving a legacy is important to you.
What are the benefits of being public about our donations?
There are many that donate quietly and anonymously. There are strategies that ensure anonymity and have considerable—if not absolute—control over where it is donated. The reasons are valid:
- To reduce unwanted follow-up requests from other fundraisers
- To give credit and highlight those doing the work you believe will impact the world
- To shield your wealth if you prefer to donate one large gift versus many smaller donations
- To avoid potential public or family controversy
There are advantages to being public which center around the benefits gained from collaboration with other philanthropic partners. By joining with others’ voices, reputations, connections and leveraging your funds your collective impact has the potential of being greater. Giving as a group may mean that you are choosing where, when and how to award grants together which in turn creates higher levels of engagement, social connectivity and the freedom to make significant contributions to several different organizations.
